The Challenge
Transporting three chimpanzees from the Central African Republic to Zambia sounds simple on paper. It is not.
It means moving traumatized, highly intelligent animals across borders where roads barely exist, permits are fragile, and one mistake can cost a life. Every mile involves sedation risks, shifting temperatures, military checkpoints, unreliable aircraft, and the constant threat of delay. The chimps do not understand why they are being crated, flown, or driven for days. The humans involved carry the full moral weight of getting it right. One misstep and rescue turns into harm.
